About Amanda

Hello! Welcome to the beginning of your journey to live a happier life! My name is Amanda, and I am a licensed social worker. My goal is to meet you where you are in life and help you navigate through your obstacles by giving you the support and coping skills you need so that you can live a confident, autonomous lifestyle. Taking the first step to start therapy is hard so be proud of yourself while also remembering progress is not linear, it can get messy. What's important is to just keep swimming!

My experience includes working with clients from as young as 4 years old to clients in their older adult years. My approach is to work from a strengths-based perspective to help the client realize the brightness in what they may view as all darkness. As a clinician, I am a true believer in honesty and vulnerability. It takes immense strength to be honest and call yourself out on your flaws while being vulnerable enough to let someone in to see your flaws and help you improve yourself. I believe that once someone can figure out and own up to their flaws, as well as their strengths, they can really begin to make progress in their life.

Another aspect of my approach towards therapy involves a lot of self-care and meditation. I am a huge advocate for the importance of self-care and if I tell my clients to engage in it, I better, as well. Some things I do for self-care involve reading, going out to eat, meditation, and spending time with family and friends. I also try to get outside as much as I can by going for walks or going to the beach. You would be surprised how the simple things like the ones mentioned can go a long way in improving your mental health!

"Once you start making the effort to 'wake yourself up' - that is, be more mindful in your activities - you suddenly start appreciating life a lot more." - Robert Biswas-Diener
