Hi everyone! My name is Arielle Scheck and I am a Licensed Associate Counselor at WHC. In addition to being a therapist, I am also a registered yoga instructor and holistic health coach. My ultimate passion in life is helping people. I like to offer a variety of therapeutic techniques to my clients until we find what works best for you and your wellbeing.
I have experience working with all age groups - children, teens, adults, couples and families. I believe that a strong therapist-client relationship is absolutely essential to success. My goal as your clinician is to make you feel happy, confident, and secure both in our sessions and in everyday life. Self-love is my mantra!
Some of my specialty areas include: disordered eating, depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationships. We will work together to set attainable goals and to start the healing process. I am here to help you every step of the way.
For my personal self care, I enjoy yoga, working out, cooking, baking, and seeing my family and friends. I can't wait to meet you!
Growing up, we all go through experiences that shape who we are today. These experiences may influence our present thoughts, feelings, behaviors and ways of relating to the world, ourselves and in relationships without our realizing. . I work with people who have experienced various types of traumas and help them heal and move forward. My goal as your therapist is not to make you forget but to accept and understand your past experiences and feel the feelings associated with them.Together, we will use narrative techniques and practice coping skills to manage the emotions that stem from past trauma. Our traumas do not have to define us, and can make us stronger if we are able to heal and change our perspective so that you can be WHOLEHEARTEDLY you!
Every body is beautiful, including yours! Our society and diet culture portray health and beauty in a limited and unrealistic manner . This often contributes to feeling not good enough and often supports disordered eating patterns. In addition to society and diet culture, eating disorders often stem from other problems, such as past trauma, early patterns relating to food and poor emotion regulation, so within treatment, we will explore your whole self, past and present. I utilize my background as a holistic health coach to provide nutrition education while also allowing you to process your thoughts and feelings surrounding your disordered eating. Incorporating Dialectical Behavior Therapy into my practice, my goal is to teach coping skills and strategies that will help you along the road to recovery.
Staying in the present is HARD. Our survival brains are wired to constantly observe, assess, analyze and evaluate. I believe that depression stems from focusing on the past and anxiety comes from living in the future. While working with individuals that struggle with both anxiety and depression, I focus on mindfulness and living in the present moment. In addition to processing and discussing your emotions, I will help you to become more aware of your thoughts and hone your mindset into being more positive and optimistic. My favorite quote is "Nothing changes if nothing changes." Lets put in the work to help you feel your best!
Taking care of myself doesn't mean "me first." It means "me, too."
