Research on adolescent body image informs us of the alarming change in how girls feel about their bodies between the ages of 13 years old and 17 years old....

it has shown that around 50% of 13 year old girls in the US reported being unhappy with their body
this number grew to nearly 80% by the time girls reached 17 years of age

This significant decline in adolescent body image is often influenced by factors such as media, culture, peers, parents, and past experiences. Cultivating a loving relationship with our bodies begins with practicing radical acceptance, and includes understanding these influences to bring awareness to their impact on body image.

The purpose of this group is to provide teen girls with the support and tools needed to develop self-love and acceptance of their bodies. Understanding "worthiness" as it relates to adolescent self-worth & the role of happiness in self-care will be key components of each group. In a supportive environment and through activities, games, conversation and direct instruction the development of a normalized relationship with food and body positivity will be explored.
