My name is Olivia, and I am a counseling intern at WHC. I am a current graduate student at Montclair State University, studying Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In addition to being an intern, I am a certified yoga instructor. I am currently enrolled in a training which will give me experience in teaching yoga for trauma, special needs, children/teens, prenatal/postnatal, & athletes. Through the daily practice of yoga, I learned stillness, self-acceptance, healing, and gratitude. In the future, I plan to link the practices of yoga and mindfulness with therapy.
I believe that when we are faced with adversity, there is a great space for us to grow and thrive. In my view, counseling can guide individuals on their journey through healing and towards growth. As a former Division 1 athlete, I was able to grasp the undeniable pressures that not only sports but also society places on us to "be better", oftentimes leaving us feeling as if we are not whole or complete right now.
My goal as a counselor, similar to as a yoga teacher, is to leave my clients feeling empowered and that through inquiry and self-compassion, anything is possible in their lives.
